The Yahoo Employee Foundation (YEF) provides Yahoo employees the opportunity to help an organization they care about to apply for a grant by acting as a YEF grant champion (Champion). Yahoo employees worldwide who have made a minimum $50 donation to YEF within the 12 months prior to the applicable grant cycle are eligible to serve as a Champion. If you would like to be a Champion and have not already donated, visit yo/yefdonate now! The YEF Grants Committee, made up of Yahoo employee volunteers, evaluates applications based on clearly defined criteria. To learn more read the FAQ, or download a copy of our information packet.
How to Apply
To be considered for a YEF grant, an organization seeking funding (Applicant) must work with a Champion to complete and submit a grant application using the form at Begin New Application. Applicant and Champion can work on an application together through this site. Applicant and Champion can review and revise saved applications by navigating to the Manage Applications page. Both Applicant and Champion have sections of the form that must be completed before the application can be submitted. Click Begin New Application below to get started.
If you are an Applicant and are not already logged into a Yahoo account, you will be prompted to log in before you can see or edit an application. For more details read the FAQ. In sharing links, please be aware that any URL that includes the string "internal" will be accessible only to Champions and any URL that includes the string "external" will be accessible only to Applicants. But the correct URL for an application will always be available to Champions or Applicants if they are logged in and access the application through the Manage Applications page.
Only a Champion can actually submit an application by clicking the Submit button at the bottom of a completed application form. The Champion is responsible for ensuring that all of the application information is complete before submitting the application. After both the Applicant and Champion have completed their portions of the application form, the Champion should review the entire application before clicking the Submit button at the bottom of the form. Incomplete applications can be saved by both Champion and Applicant at anytime by clicking the Save button at the bottom of the application form.
To save and submit a grant application, a Champion must enter his or her username @yahoo-inc.com. An Applicant must enter his or her username @yahoo.com. Applicants without a yahoo.com account can sign up for one at login.yahoo.com. Without entry of both a valid yahoo-inc.com username (for Champions) and yahoo.com username (for Applicants) an application cannot be submitted.
With the applicable Yahoo username, either the Champion or Applicant can start a new application. To share an application, it must be saved with the username of an Applicant @yahoo.com or Champion @yahoo-inc.com. Once saved with a valid username, the Applicant or Champion can access the application from the Manage Applications link.
Uploading Supporting Documents
A grant application must include four Supporting Documents uploaded by the Applicant. Once an application has been saved, the Applicant will see an Upload link for a saved application on the Manage Applications page. Click Supporting Documents to download forms and sample supporting documents. For more details read the FAQ.
In 2016, YEF will offer a single grant cycle for all grants. YEF grant applications must be complete and submitted by June 30, 2016. Applications submitted after this date will not be considered.
